Welcome to Love Letters During a Nightmare

Hello! I’m Sabina Stent, an art and culture historian, freelance writer (Magnum Photos, Indicator Series, Vinegar Syndrome, Radiance Film, AnOther Magazine, Dazed, etc.), speaker (Feminist Lecture Program/The London Drawing Group, Morbid Anatomy Museum, The Last Tuesday Society), and occasional film host (Midlands Arts Centre) specialising in women surrealist artists and film. We probably met on Twitter.

I started this newsletter to write about things I enjoy, and maybe you enjoy too. There will be work on women artists, surrealism, and cinema. For smaller pieces more in a cinematic vein—including film introductions and the like—feel free to visit my blog.

If you enjoy my free articles and wish to upgrade to a paid subscription with the satisfaction of knowing every penny assists to motivate a freelance writer in a precarious industry, you will gain access to paywalled articles, lecture transcripts, PDFs, further musings, and my gratitude. Alternatively, if you can’t subscribe to a paid subscription but wish to make a one-off contribution, you can buy me a coffee via my Ko-Fi page

Thank you for visiting my page, and I hope you enjoy!
